Michael Szyszkowitz and Karla Kowalski are two of the most active and eclectic architects on the Austian scene. With numerous "organic" architectural structures to their names, they have made world famous what are known as the "Graz school" concepts. The work of Szyszkowitz and Kowalski is "organic" in every sense of the word. Every project takes its cue from the natural elements encountered. In their view, the primary function of any buildings is to serve the people who live in. As a result, architectural designs cater for human needs while adapting and relating to the external environment. Their work in Graz spans a wide range of building types from residential, tertiary sector and educational building.
