It is well known that in bituminous mixes aggregates form the most significant part of it in terms of volume; they also show that the higher the heterogeneity the greater the geometrical, mechanical and chemical differences between the individual granules. This research, through the triaxial test and the Mohr-Coulomb theory provides - along with the covariance analysis - useful indications on the effect which the variable shape has on the cohesion and on the angle of internal friction of the mixes. It will be finally demonstrated that these effects assume a different significance according to the chosen function

Abstract

It is well known that in bituminous mixes aggregates form the most significant part of it in terms of volume; they also show that the higher the heterogeneity the greater the geometrical, mechanical and chemical differences between the individual granules. This research, through the triaxial test and the Mohr-Coulomb theory provides - along with the covariance analysis - useful indications on the effect which the variable shape has on the cohesion and on the angle of internal friction of the mixes. It will be finally demonstrated that these effects assume a different significance according to the chosen function
