This work introduces a fully integrated 2.4GHz phase shifter for an enhanced SoC solution, based on a revised DDS-PLL scheme. The proposed design, for a 0.35μm SiGe BiCMOS process, implements a beam steering unit for a 4- element active phased-array antenna, on a die area of 2.5mm2. Targeting narrowband communications in space and weight constrained scenarios, the subsystem allows to select, for each channel, a 0° to 360° phase shift with an 8-bit resolution, through a custom digital topology that employs synchronous delay lines instead of full-featured direct digital synthesizers.
