Abstract

In this paper, a response-based architecture for wide-area control of transient phenomena is proposed. A sensitivity approach, derived by a dynamic optimization methodology, is adopted for evaluating corrective actions able to ensure transient stability. Remedial actions are implemented by exploiting classical loadshedding schemes (LSS). The algorithm is implemented and tested on a detailed representation of the Italian national grid. Feasibility tests assess the maximum acceptable time delays for controlling transient stability.
