The book documents the results of the exhibition titled TransHumance. A new humus for textile identity, presented in New York at the first international textile exhibition: New York Textile Month (NYTM), into the section Talent, reserved to young talents. The exhibition exposes fragments of surfaces which describe a progression of detailed experimentations on the matter: process/actions are applied to restore to each designed surface/artefact a differentiation of the states of the given matter, in order to change the relations between the primary elements that constitute it. The transformation of the material value is, at the same time, a transformation of the meaning value, which accepts, amplifies and declines new potential of signification to the surface itself. Each fragment of surface uses representative materials of the Apulian territory and it suggests the becoming of the material configuration through the interpretation of the traditional production process, reconstituted in new material interactions, from weaving, to folding, to felting. The artefact transforms the expressive value becoming a sensible surface, amplifying and strengthening the sensorial, tactile and visual qualities. In this way each fragment evolves the vernacular feature of a local tradition in order to widen the experience of a cultural migration, a necessary fruitful condition to a renovation of the world textile heritage.

A new Humus for textile identity, presentata a New York alla prima mostra tessile internazionale: New York Textile Month (NYTM) nell’ambito della sezione Talent, riservata ai giovani talenti.
