The research on the relatioship between ancient and modern applied to archaeological sites does not currently appear to be following shared strategies, being disjointed by the division of knoledge and capabilities and by the gap between operationally inadequate academics and professional practices devoid of any acceptable theoretical background. The architectural design, influenced by computer and technological changes, increasingly remote from the dimension of “time” and “memory”, seems to achieve the “ephemeral” and the “temporary”. Therefore, there is a need to tackle the problem of integration between design and archaeological ruin identifying a new system of ethical values that could give us tools, strategies and motivations to “socially” renovate and regulate the relationship between archaeological context and contemporary society.
