The design and experimental evaluation of magnetostatic wave delay lines at 26-40 GHz are reported. Delay lines were designed, fabricated and tested in the forward volume and surface modes utilizing epitaxial yttrium iron garnet grown on gadolinium gallium garnet. Open circuited narrow (50 mu m) microstrip transducers were used. Delays from less than 20 ns to greater than 200 ns were observed with insertion losses as low as 15 dB. Theoretical calculations of transducer and delay characteristics show good correlation with experiments.
