Abstract

A nonlinear programming technique for assessing control actions to guarantee the dynamic security of power system is presented using the unified power flow converter (UPFC). The assessment of control actions are discussed to avoid the transient instability. The possibility of using fast devices associated solely to the transmission system in a competitive market environment is explored. A set of nonlinear differential and algebraic equations is used to obtain the time-domain solution of power systems on a transient time-scale
