Architetture fortificate in Terra d’Otranto. Il ruolo del restauro fra istanze conservative e fruizione consapevole

Among the case studies recently examinated in Terra d'Otranto, the ones in Massafra, Tutino and Caprarica di Lecce offer some reflections on nodal and current issues. These issues concern the difficult balancing act between the conservative and the revealing instance. If the first one imposes matter and stratification respect, the second one legitimate additions removal and gaps reintegration. At the same time attention must be drawn to the enhancement of the monument so that it can be leaved to the future generations, respecting identity and vocations, carefully to the needs of the community.

Tra i casi studio recentemente esaminati in Terra d'Otranto, quelli di Massafra, Tutino e Caprarica di Lecce offrono alcune riflessioni su questioni nodali e attuali. Questi problemi riguardano il difficile equilibrio tra l'istanza conservatrice e quella rivelatrice. Se la prima impone il rispetto della materia e della stratificazione, la seconda legittima la rimozione delle addizioni e la reintegrazione dei vuoti. Nello stesso tempo va posta attenzione alla valorizzazione del monumento perché sia lasciato alle generazioni future, nel rispetto dell'identità e delle vocazioni, attento alle esigenze della comunità.
