This paper provides an efficient and accurate numerical method for computing internal flows in two dimensions. The method has been designed to deal with subsonic-to-supersonic flows without shocks, but can deal with entirely subsonic and transonic flows. The perturbative lambda formulation equations are considered and solved by block-line-relaxation methods. The validity of the proposed technique is demonstrated for a well documented nozzle flow problem for both subsonic and subsonic-to-supersonic flow conditions.

Abstract

This paper provides an efficient and accurate numerical method for computing internal flows in two dimensions. The method has been designed to deal with subsonic-to-supersonic flows without shocks, but can deal with entirely subsonic and transonic flows. The perturbative lambda formulation equations are considered and solved by block-line-relaxation methods. The validity of the proposed technique is demonstrated for a well documented nozzle flow problem for both subsonic and subsonic-to-supersonic flow conditions.
