The aim of this chapter is to investigate the design of line front-end converter systems andtheir control in view of their steady-state and transient behaviour. After a brief review ofthe applications, the basic functions, the operating limits and the mathematical models ofthe voltage source front-end converters are discussed. Some basic and advanced controltechniques are reviewed with specific attention to the possible design criteria. Then theinfluence of the non-ideal conditions (grid unbalance, converter dead-time and presenceof unmodelled delays in control and measurement) is discussed.

Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to investigate the design of line front-end converter systems andtheir control in view of their steady-state and transient behaviour. After a brief review ofthe applications, the basic functions, the operating limits and the mathematical models ofthe voltage source front-end converters are discussed. Some basic and advanced controltechniques are reviewed with specific attention to the possible design criteria. Then theinfluence of the non-ideal conditions (grid unbalance, converter dead-time and presenceof unmodelled delays in control and measurement) is discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
