Dall’architettura alla maniglia: il rilievo dell’opera d’arte totale = From architecture to the handle: the survey of the “total work of art”

This paper show a research on Ernesto Basile architect works, that involved several disciplinary skills, such as design, furnishings, representation and history. In his architecture, included in the modernist cultural context involving the architecture of the city of Palermo between ’800 and ‘900, their design process concerns the building, the furniture and the ornamental devices. The investigation objects were the Villino Ida and the Utveggio Palace. The survey, the drawing operations and the shape geometric analysis are necessary as knowledge tools to formulate design proposals for his production fruition and valorisation.
