The research aims to illustrate the results of the project SISEDARE (Sistema Integrato per la Sostenibilità degli Edifici: Automazione e Risparmio Energetico), born from the collaboration between the world of the research (with contributions from the University of Bari and ENEA) and of industrial production (Garibaldi enterprise srl. and Matrix spa). The aim of the project was to create a system that can ensure the management of the automatic energy-saving in buildings, combining the demands of different stakeholders involved in the construction process and responding to the end users needs’ evolution. The research focused on the definition of system requirements and the identification of the control parameters, in relation to the characteristics of the systems/components of building structures (existing and new construction) and potential problems related to the integration between the building and electronic services. The prototyping phases were developed by Matrix for the production of the hardware and firmware system based on wireless low power technology and by ENEA, for a CO and CH4 sensor based on nanotechnology. In parallel it has been developed the software for the management of the system, conceived to communicate also by common pc. In particular the software have been configured in three operating modes: Characterization - to support designers in choosing the most effective automation system for building energy saving - Maintenance – conceived for installers and maintenance operator of the system over time - and User with a simple, intuitive and highly flexible approach. The effectiveness of the system SISEDARE has been validated in a museum, an office building and a residential unit, also in order to test and investigate further developments for the construction industry.
