This paper deals with the problem of reducing fuel consumption and pollutant emissions of Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDV). The overall objective of improving the efficiency of the HDV can be obtained by employing the most advanced technologies in powertrain control and intelligent transportation systems, by taking into account road topography, traffic, weather conditions and driver behavior. This paper presents a review of the recent researches on the technologies to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions for HDV. In particular, the reviewed research contributions are presented in four main areas: driver behaviour, road density evaluation, route planning and speed control.

Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of reducing fuel consumption and pollutant emissions of Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDV).
