A new Interconnection Multihop Optical Network called EXSTAR was conceived in order to allow an implementation of all- optical routing processor and, at the same time, to improve the characteristics of modularity and performance of other known multihop structures. For this network some routing algorithms, named EXSTRA (Extended STarring Routing Algorithms), based on a header recognition scheme , have been devised. The first one allows to obtain the best performance in conjunction with a suitable network structure; a simplified version offers a notable simplicity of implementation, giving rise to routing processors including only few all-optical gates

Abstract
A new Interconnection Multihop Optical Network called EXSTAR was conceived in order to allow an implementation of all- optical routing processor and, at the same time, to improve the characteristics of modularity and performance of other known multihop structures. For this network some routing algorithms, named EXSTRA (Extended STarring Routing Algorithms), based on a header recognition scheme , have been devised. The first one allows to obtain the best performance in conjunction with a suitable network structure; a simplified version offers a notable simplicity of implementation, giving rise to routing processors including only few all-optical gatesI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
