Italy's school and higher education system has pratically always focused exclusively on developing and delivering teaching models. The provison of facilities like student residences has almost always been a very secondary concern. The result is today's chronic shortage of student accomodation and tha scant attention given to architectural models to meet the complex series of requirements specific to university residences. The few projects that have tackled this particular sector are not part of a concerted plan but isolated interventions.
