Abstract

A novel chirped multilayer structure consisting of a low index polymer core bounded by modulated multilayer claddings is proposed to realize an optical field concentrator with a strong field confinement in a wide spectral range, including the three optical-fiber communication windows. Linear and nonlinear propagation properties of these structures, as well as their ability of bending the light, are reported and discussed.
