Abstract

An experimental analysis of ice slurry system has been carried out to study the fluid performance of the two-phase water-sodium chloride mixture. The experimental work has been developed at Refrigeration Laboratory of Dipartimento di Fisica Tecnica of Politecnico di Bari by means of an existing ice slurry plant. The test rig enables measurements of tube-side pressure drop. Several mixture composition, ice percentage, temperature, and velocity have been tested. Experimental data are presented in form of correlation equations among several parameters as well as diagrams showing trends for pressure drop and friction factor.
