The aim of this chapter is to treat the single-phase, three-phase and four-wire shunt activefilters both with respect to control issues and implementation issues. In the first case, traditional control methods and innovative ones are discussed and in the second case theprocedure to develop microcontroller algorithm is addressed. The chapter includes basictopologies and standard operation of shunt active filters; traditional control techniques(hysteresis and predictive); innovative control techniques (fuzzy-logic based and Nelder-and-Mead based); algorithms development on microcontroller.

Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to treat the single-phase, three-phase and four-wire shunt activefilters both with respect to control issues and implementation issues. In the first case, traditional control methods and innovative ones are discussed and in the second case theprocedure to develop microcontroller algorithm is addressed. The chapter includes basictopologies and standard operation of shunt active filters; traditional control techniques(hysteresis and predictive); innovative control techniques (fuzzy-logic based and Nelder-and-Mead based); algorithms development on microcontroller.
