In this paper a method to synchronize chaotic cryptosystems via a scalar transmitted signal is proposed with the aim of enhancing the security of communication systems. The scalar signal is obtained as a suitable linear combination of state variables of the transmitter and encrypted signals. The suggested method is applied to bidirectionally coupled Chua's oscillators. Moreover, the performance of the proposed cryptosystem is investigated in the presence of channel noise. Simulation results are reported to confirm the validity of the suggested method.

Abstract

In this paper a method to synchronize chaotic cryptosystems via a scalar transmitted signal is proposed with the aim of enhancing the security of communication systems. The scalar signal is obtained as a suitable linear combination of state variables of the transmitter and encrypted signals. The suggested method is applied to bidirectionally coupled Chua's oscillators. Moreover, the performance of the proposed cryptosystem is investigated in the presence of channel noise. Simulation results are reported to confirm the validity of the suggested method.
