Aluminium foams produced by powder metallurgical process have a high potential for use in weight sensitiveconstruction parts. The stiffness to weight ratio is the main criteria for material selection in light weight design. The aim of this study is to evaluate the properties and to optimize the process parameters of a powder technique developed at Fraunhofer Institute, starting from aluminium powders with titanium hydrideas foaming agent. During the experimental work many samples were realised following the principles of Design Of Experiment (DOE). Then the study of cells morphology, cells distribution and cells wall was realised and the measure of relative density was carried out. Moreover mechanical properties of foam samples were evaluated by quasi-static compression tests. The final evaluation of the most important features have been made by ANOVA statistical analysis.

Abstract
The final evaluation of the most important features have been made by ANOVA statistical analysis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
