Worldwide, urban areas are increasingly exposed to natural hazards exacerbated by climate changes. In this sense, the aim of this work is to highlight the vulnerability of urban systems. In detail, a focus on the risk connected to the floods in urban areas is carried out. Finally, some innovative technologies able to analyse, manage and reduce risks that can affect road infrastructures are illustrated

Abstract
