The filling & emptying methods have been shown to be good numerical models for simulating small constant speed engines from a thermo-fluiddynamics point of view. An implicit filling & emptying technique is presented for modeling the steady-speed operation of vehicle engines in order to predict their global performance with low computational costs and good accuracy. An analysis was carried out of the influence of the manifold geometry and the rotational speed in order to check the efficiency and reliability of the technique. This was accomplished by computing the volumetric efficiency of the engine. In the absence of experimental data, a comparison was made between the results obtained by the present method and by a classic explicit propagation technique. The results are in good agreement.

Abstract
The results are in good agreement.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
