Morfologia del Pol

By gradually analyzing a building fabric, from the home to the urban organism, inevitably you will come across the scale of the "aggregative organism" i.e. that urban element that plays the role of morphological transitional structure from the single building to the city. This short essay focuses the attention on a particular type of building aggregate constitutives of many lndian urban fabric within the Gujarat region (especially the one of Ahmedabad's walled city, recognized as UNESCO heritage), with the aim to understand its "essential" structure in order to orient its necessary transformation. The building aggregate object of interest is known as Pol and it is representative of a self-sufficient building entity, regarding morphological, socia and economie aspects.

Nell'analizzare gradualmente un tessuto edilizio, dalla "casa" all'intero "organismo urbano", ci si imbatte inevitabilmente nell'indagine dell'"organismo aggregativo", ossia di quell'elemento che fa da struttura morfologica di transizione dall'edificio alla città. Tale breve saggio intende focalizzare l'attenzione su un particolare tipo di aggregato edilizio costitutivo di molti tessuti urbani indiani della regione del Gujarat, (soprattutto di quello della città murata di Ahmedabad, riconosciuta come patrimonio UNESCO) al fine di comprenderne la sua "essenza" strutturale e di conseguenza orientarne le necessarie trasformazioni. L'aggregato edilizio oggetto d'interesse è noto come Pol e si configura come un'entità edilizia autosufficiente, sia in termini morfologici, sociali che economici.
