In the last decade, thanks to the increases in computing technology, cost optimization and robusdistribution systems, have been improved using population-based strategies for solving optimiHowever, water distribution design is always performed under the assumption that pipe failureFor this reason, the paper presents a strategy for analysing water distribution systems under "abnormal" conditions due to pipe failure. This kind of analysis is useful in a risk-based management scenario, for planning Operational activities on existing networks, or for improving their performance during design or renewal. The strategy for failure analysis is achieved using multi-objective optimization and genetic algorithms.
