In this paper some results obtained within the research project “Sviluppo di tecnologie in guida d’onda integrata (SIW) per applicazioni ICT a microonde (SIW) PON01_01224” are reported. In particular, the fabrication and characterization of microwave and optical devices are illustrated. The laboratory of the Microwave & Optical Engineering group (MOE-lab) at Magna Grecia Center of the Politecnico di Bari in Taranto owns the equipment for feasibility investigation, prototyping and characterization of microwave and optical prototypes. Microwave devices are fabricated using a standard printed circuit board (PCB) process laser by the Compact Laser System for rapid PCB prototyping, LPKF ProtoLaser U3. The characterization of the radiating systems is performed by Spectrum analyzer PNA Agilent 8361 and the anechoic chamber with Antenna Measurement System, StarLab Antenna Test Station SATIMO. Fiber glass processing, such as splicing, tapering and fabrication of multicombiners are carried out with good results by the Glass Processing system GPX-3400 Vytran. Abstract
The fabricated devices show good performance.
