The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method developed by the JIPM (Japan Institute for Plant Maintenance), was one of the pillars within the Total Productivity Management (TPM) method which is an approach to optimise the effectiveness of production means in a structured manner (Nakajima, 1988). The experience proves that a good analysis provides a very good "picture" of the actual situation, which helps to determine both short and longer term improvement activities including quantified benefits from each of the improvements. In this paper the OEE is calculated for a manufacturing line that produces gears for automotive application. A statistical analysis for the OEE is presented as well as the bottle necks of the process are mentioned with the improvement activities proposed.

Abstract
The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method developed by the JIPM (Japan Institute for Plant Maintenance), was one of the pillars within the Total Productivity Management (TPM) method which is an approach to optimise the effectiveness of production means in a structured manner (Nakajima, 1988). The experience proves that a good analysis provides a very good "picture" of the actual situation, which helps to determine both short and longer term improvement activities including quantified benefits from each of the improvements. In this paper the OEE is calculated for a manufacturing line that produces gears for automotive application. A statistical analysis for the OEE is presented as well as the bottle necks of the process are mentioned with the improvement activities proposed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
