This paper is a review on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) cavity-backed patch antennas, designed, fabricated and characterized, within the MIUR Research project “Sviluppo di tecnologie in guida d’onda integrata (SIW) per applicazioni ICT a microonde (SIW) PON01_01224”. SIW technology, was chosen to fabricate the cavities of the patch antennas in order to increase their bandwidth. Patch antennas were designed, fabricated and characterized by considering two different substrates, Rogers Duroid 5880 and Taconic RF35. The performances of the proposed antennas have been evaluated in terms of radiation pattern, bandwidth, and efficiency. The antennas designed and fabricated with Rogers Duroid 5880 allow higher performance than those based on Taconic RF35. However, the employment of Taconic RF35 substrate allows to reduce the cost. The results indicate these antennas as promising solutions for future applications in radar, digital radio and satellite communication.

Abstract
The results indicate these antennas as promising solutions for future applications in radar, digital radio and satellite communication.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
