Founded in 969 AD, following the conquest of Egypt by the Fatimid caliphate, the city of al-Qaira (Cairo) is part of this vast fabric, creating a passage for the achievement of area ' Upper Nile from the Mediterranean Sea. In this context, one can not by covered irrespective of the transformation from nomadic to the sedentary life for the spread of Islamic civilization. This change is seen by Muslims as a sort of Hegira, the founding act done by the Prophet himself, for the community, no longer broken up into tribes, appears renewed and strong in a society based on cooperation and alliance, assisted, inter alia, assumption of a single language, Arabic. The city is thus the result of an aggregation process defined within a particular place, in which case the interaction between social structure and physical environment.
