ANALYSIS AND PREVENTION OF THE LIVESTOCK WASTE ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS Livestock wastes are one of the most important causes of the agricultural soil pollution. Indeed slurries are generally disposed on the cultivated soil. Objective of the present research is the development of a methodology useful for the land planning of the livestock location and for the management of the wastes. Territorial information on the livestock was related with the absorption capacity of the crops in order to estimate the potential polluting load on the agro-ecosystem. This was quantified by means of the evaluation of the nitrogen content in the livestock slurries. Indeed nitrogen content is an indicative parameter of the possible pollution of superficial and deep waters, because of its high mobility in the soil. The waste nitrogen content was compared with the absorption capacity of the crops. By means of the application of the proposed methodology to the Puglia region. thematic maps concerning the suitable quantity of the slurry disposal were processed.

Abstract
By means of the application of the proposed methodology to the Puglia region. thematic maps concerning the suitable quantity of the slurry disposal were processed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
