The paper presents the preliminary results of a research finalized to use renewable energy sources for powering a greenhouse air temperature control system. A photovoltaic array of 940 W peak power, a 1 kW wind turbine, and a battery bank of 630 Ah were used to produce and store energy to feed the greenhouse climate control equipment. The greenhouse internal air temperature was controlled by means of 4 electrical ventilation fans, driven by an electronic system. The tests were carried out at the experimental farm of the University of Bari, Southern Italy. The energy produced by means of the wind and the solar radiation resulted enough to satisfy the energy demand of the fans during the spring season.

Abstract
The paper presents the preliminary results of a research finalized to use renewable energy sources for powering a greenhouse air temperature control system. A photovoltaic array of 940 W peak power, a 1 kW wind turbine, and a battery bank of 630 Ah were used to produce and store energy to feed the greenhouse climate control equipment. The greenhouse internal air temperature was controlled by means of 4 electrical ventilation fans, driven by an electronic system. The tests were carried out at the experimental farm of the University of Bari, Southern Italy. The energy produced by means of the wind and the solar radiation resulted enough to satisfy the energy demand of the fans during the spring season.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
