Documenting and communicating data relating to Cultural Heritage is of particular importance today in order to enable knowledge and conservation of the architectural, archaeological and landscape heritage. The survey, understood as the set of all those activities aimed at the acquisition and processing of data referring to the Asset, represents the hinge around which the entire scientific process of knowledge of architectural artefacts, urban places, the landscape up to the territory is articulated. The basis of this contribution is the survey and graphic restitution of the polychrome cement flooring from the beginning of the last century of the former Francesco Caracciolo Nautical Institute in Bari, currently being converted into a university residence. In this context, an informative and figurative basis is built to respond to the need to protect and safeguard the asset, to the expectations of its valorisation and dissemination and to broaden the expressive possibilities of the material and immaterial data surveyed.
