Procida, a small island in the Gulf of Naples, has been nominated the Italian Capital of Culture for 2022 in a competition entitled “Culture does not isolate” (to isolate in Italian recalls the word for island, “Isola”), prophetically, in the moment of maximum isolation that this competition has ever experienced. Such an unprecedented victory emerged from the extraordinarily widespread cultural heritage of small Italian towns that, speaking with the Jury’s own words, are “capable of transmitting a poetic message and a vision of culture that, from the small reality of the island, sends a good wish for all of us and for our country in the months ahead of us”. Abstract
