Between the 1980s and 1990s the Italian graphic design scene was overwhelmed by the advent of the personal computer, specifically Apple Computer’s Macintosh model, which, by means of a new and simplified graphic interface and dedicated software, allowed graphic designers direct access to the design phases that had previously been the exclusive prerogative of technicians. The essay investigates this digital revolution by reporting on some emblematic and unknown Italian case studies that enter new project areas and develop hybrid visual languages, peculiar to the national panorama.

Abstract
Between the 1980s and 1990s the Italian graphic design scene was overwhelmed by the advent of the personal computer, specifically Apple Computer’s Macintosh model, which, by means of a new and simplified graphic interface and dedicated software, allowed graphic designers direct access to the design phases that had previously been the exclusive prerogative of technicians. The essay investigates this digital revolution by reporting on some emblematic and unknown Italian case studies that enter new project areas and develop hybrid visual languages, peculiar to the national panorama.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
