Dinamiche di rappresentazione di un’architettura alla ricerca della sua identità = Dynamics of Representation of an Architecture in Search of its Identity

In the space of little more than a century, starting in 1793, Apulia was enriched with a large number of structures for the performing arts, demonstrating the cultural richness of its society between the 19th and 20th centuries. The construction history of the 50 ‘plan’ theatres built in large cities and several smaller towns is linked to the historical, economic, social and cultural events of the individual com-munities. There is a lack of scientifically conducted studies investigating the architecture, construction and distribution solutions, reference models and framing the subject on a regional scale. The research Theatres of Apulia takes on the role of a tool for a reconnaissance of ‘Italian-style’ theatres, through di-gitisation, expeditious survey, drawing methods, historical-archival investigation, and three-dimensional modelling, and aims to study the identity of the works in their physical consistency and significance wi-thin the reality in which they are inserted. The Luciani theatre in Acquaviva delle Fonti, which became a performance building in recent times although the first project dates back to 1866, is a paradigmatic example of the controversial and complex history of a theatre. The modelling of each phase has made it possible to traverse history and construct a visual narrative of a neglected theatre, which retains the walls and the foundation of the stalls from the 19th century facies

La Puglia, nell’arco di poco più di un secolo a partire dal 1793, si arricchisce di un numero elevato di strutture per lo spettacolo, a dimostrazione della ricchezza culturale della sua società tra Ottocento e Novecento. La storia costruttiva dei 50 teatri ‘di pianta’ realizzati nelle grandi città e in diversi nuclei urbani minori, è legata alle vicende storiche, economiche, sociali e culturali delle singole comunità. Mancano studi condotti con criteri scientifici che ne indaghino l’architettura, le soluzioni costruttive e distributive, i modelli di riferimento e che inquadrino il tema a scala regionale. La ricerca Teatri di Puglia assume il ruolo di strumento per una ricognizione sui teatri ‘all’italiana’, attraverso la digitalizzazione, il rilievo speditivo, i metodi del disegno, dell’indagine storico-archivistica, della modellazione tridimensionale, e si pone l’obiettivo di studiare l’identità delle opere nella loro consistenza fisica e di significato all’interno della realtà in cui si inseriscono. Il teatro Luciani di Acquaviva delle Fonti, divenuto edificio per spettacoli in tempi recenti, benché il primo progetto risalga al 1866, rappresenta l’esempio paradigmatico della storia controversa e complessa di un teatro. La modellazione di ogni fase ha consentito di attraversare la storia e costruire una narrazione visiva di un teatro negato, che della facies ottocentesca conserva i muri d’ambito e la fondazione della platea.
