Abstract
The Renewal of Bari and its Town Hall after the Italian Unification The town hall of Bari was one of the first outcomes of a larger urban planning programme seeking to redefine the areas freed by the demolition of the old city walls: as such, it represented a key element in the ambition to modernize Bari’s image. The history of its realization intertwines with the building of the new city theatre named after Niccolò Piccinni, and spanned almost sixty years: from the mid-19th century to 1915. Its construction reflects the political and design conceptions advocated by the city’s new ruling class and the ideological content of its intentions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
