La lingua autentica e la lingua straniera : le origini dell’architettura di Aris Konstantinidis

Aris Konstantinidis profoundly belongs to the spirit of his land. He reaches this awareness by venturing, with solitary journeys, into a direct knowledge of the vernacular architecture and the Greek landscape. He learned the tools that allow him this during the years of study at the University of Munich (Konstantinidis will always be close with his teacher Adolf Abel). A topos of German architecture is the construction and the language generated from it, and this becomes the paradigm that he uses to understand the Greek architecture. In his travels he realizes a slow conquest of the elements of Greek construction as if they were words of a language, ancient that continually lives again, and that slowly reveals itself to him. In this way, the knowledge of the constructive language of German architecture allows him to grasp, through his language, the “soul of the Greek landscape”.

Aris Konstantinidis appartiene in modo profondo allo spirito della sua terra. Egli giunge a questa consapevolezza avventurandosi, con viaggi solitari, in una conoscenza diretta dell’architettura vernacolare e del paesaggio greco. Gli strumenti che gli consentono questa conoscenza erano stati assunti negli anni di studio all’università di Monaco di Baviera (Konstantinidis resterà sempre legato al suo maestro Adolf Abel). Un topos dell’architettura tedesca è la costruzione e il linguaggio che essa genera, e questa diventa il paradigma che egli utilizza per comprendere l’architettura greca. Nei suoi viaggi realizza una lenta conquista degli elementi della costruzione greca come di parole di un linguaggio, antico che continuamente rivive, e che lentamente a lui si disvela. In tal modo la conoscenza del linguaggio costruttivo dell’architettura tedesca gli permette di afferrare, attraverso la sua lingua, l’“anima del paesaggio greco”.
