This paper analyzes voltage regulation in low-voltage (LV) distribution networks using a new device that generates reactive power. A model of a proposed device for continuous reactive power control, aka Continuously Variable Reactance (CVR), is proposed as a novel solution to reactive challenges in LV grids. The study discusses the underlying causes of voltage deviations and the available regulation methods within power systems, with particular emphasis on approaches based on reactive power compensation. The paper includes a description of simulation-based studies aimed at investigating the problem and evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed CVR device. Finally, the simulation results are presented and critically analyzed.
