We consider a system of scalar conservation laws on a star-shaped graph and compare numerically the implementation of two different procedures to compute the transmission condition at the junction, proposed in [14] and [16]. The first algorithm mentioned above processes the junction in an implicit manner, while in the second one the transmission condition at the junction is dealt with in an explicit way. We propose an enhanced algorithm as a combination of the analyzed methods by introducing a shock detection approach avoiding slow convergence rate situations.
