The problem of obtaining an accurate diabetic ocular diagnosis in the field of diabetic retinopathies has been recently efforded. In this paper a contribution in the detection of diabetic hard exudates using contrast enhancement of retinal images is proposed by synthesizing an “ad hoc” cellular neurofuzzy network. For this purpose, an adequate fuzzy procedure is developed and suitably coded. A cellular neural network is then synthesized to carry out the developed fuzzy procedure and provide enhanced contrast of diabetic hard exudates in retinal images. Experimental examples are reported.
