Various uses of cavity solitons in broad-area vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser below the threshold were discussed. Cavity solitons were generated by shining a writing/erasing laser pulse into a nonlinear optical cavity which was driven by a holding beam. The ability to control their motion and their location by introducting phase or amplitude gradients makes them interesting as mobile pixel for all-optics processing units. The results show that the generation of a number of cavity solitons in broad-area vertical cavity semiconductors microprocessors electrically pumped above transparency but slightly below the threshold.

Abstract

Various uses of cavity solitons in broad-area vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser below the threshold were discussed. Cavity solitons were generated by shining a writing/erasing laser pulse into a nonlinear optical cavity which was driven by a holding beam. The ability to control their motion and their location by introducting phase or amplitude gradients makes them interesting as mobile pixel for all-optics processing units. The results show that the generation of a number of cavity solitons in broad-area vertical cavity semiconductors microprocessors electrically pumped above transparency but slightly below the threshold.
