Abstract

The local dynamics of the head-on collision between a positron and a proton, the latter taken as infinitely heavy, is studied analytically up to the order of v5/c5. The solution of the Lorentz-Abraham-Dirac equation with retarded fields gives the numerical cofficients of the dipole and quadrupole radiation. The term corresponding to quadrupole radiation can be calculated more accurately than in the Poynting vector analysis
