Over the last decade there has been increasing interest in the international community in studying and assessing catastrophic events in the light of recent developments in climate change policies at the global scale. According to the International Disaster Database, our planet has experienced an increase in the frequency of extreme natural disasters and in the economic losses and damages that these events produce, giving us pause to consider the magnitude of the climate change – that is, the climatic response to increasing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation – and its future effects in this century.1

Abstract
Over the last decade there has been increasing interest in the international community in studying and assessing catastrophic events in the light of recent developments in climate change policies at the global scale. According to the International Disaster Database, our planet has experienced an increase in the frequency of extreme natural disasters and in the economic losses and damages that these events produce, giving us pause to consider the magnitude of the climate change – that is, the climatic response to increasing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation – and its future effects in this century.1I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
