In the present paper a review of the main typologies of structures for off-shore platform was carried out and the main activities for the development of the fabrication engineering (Fabrication Requirements, Modelling, Construction Methods, Welding, and Inspections & tests) were highlighted. Furthermore in the paper the application of AWS D.1.1. (Section 5 point 5.22.3) and the development of an FE model (to analyse the induced stresses) were analysed for a case of fabrication anomaly.
