Sadra New Town Lighting Masterplan: Between Landscape and Product Design

Scientific framework of TMU and POLIBA is a collaborative understanding for bridge socio-cultural resources to give identity to the Sadra’s spatial form, using the lighting masterplan as a driving force for a real urban renewal: the lighting can direct the urban development, bringing a specific identity to the city structure, and giving to Sadra the coherence of urban form that the city has lost in its process of informal urban sprawl.The book is organized in two parts. The first part ‘Lighting for New Towns. Methodological Perspectivesis’ contains essays dealing with the methodological interdisciplinary approach adopted in the workshop. Part Two contains the analysis and design proposal presented for Sadra at different scales, and shows the documentation collected for the site analysis including satellite views of the city, maps, photographs taken during the fieldwork and survey, night and day-time views of boulevard, monuments and public areas subjected to design, documentation of the interviews made with local people, analysis of the current situation of the city including comparisons between the proposed by masterplan and current urban asset, analysis of the lighting conditions along the main boulevards, and urban concept development.
