Acquiring a conscious awareness that the work of each single individual causes a change in reality that involves the lives of the individuals that come into contact with it and with the space that has been modified, and that the combination of the activities carried out by single individuals produces changes that are even more extensive, complete and general if put forward by the entire collective community, means acquiring a useful and essential sense of the ethical that ends up situating our critical thought in a vision that seeks a relationship with others, accepting inter-subjectivity as an intrinsic and necessary condition of our existence in the world. Consequently, a process – which ends up wholly acquiring the meaning of a conceptual device that explains architectural creation as a collective result – belongs to a culture, like that which occurs in the structural system of a language. In contrast, a design project, though to some extent subordinate to the mechanics of a process, creates a ‘decision on the future’ and leaves a difficult question.
