A computer program for calculation of kinetics of binary exchange of ions of arbitrary valences, diffusivities, and selectivity coefficients, applicable to rate control by a combination of film and particle diffusion, has been developed. The program has been applied to chloride/sulfate exchange at low solution concentration with a highly sulfate-selective anion exchange resin and has confirmed earlier conclusions concerning rate-controlling mechanisms.
