Ion exchange kinetics for direct (i. e. Cl yields SO//4) and isotopic (i. e. *SO//4 yields SO//4) exchange on different anion resins at high solution concentration (1. 8N) have been investigated following modifications during the reaction of both the liquid and the solid phases. With this aim, potentiometric and radioanalytical techniques as well as SEM, autoradiography and X-ray microprobe analyses have been used. From the experimental results it is concluded that refinements are required in existing theories to explain the experimental mechanisms of the system investigated.
