The essay analyzes the rural towns founded in the thirties in Italy, recognizing an "Italian way" to the urban planning, characterized by a unified approach to the processes of defining the forma urbis and to the architectural morphology, in a vision of the plan as a great architectural design. We analyze the "new towns" built by Concezio Petrucci, and in particular the plan for the Apulian borgo of Segezia, emphasizing its relationship with the roman architectural culture and with Piacentini and Giovannoni.
