Abstract

The field of study dealing with skins and hides interacts with the area of multi-sensory themes, the design of the new materials and the innovative use of existing materials. The sensory and expressive dimension the design can provide in relation to these materials should be considered as a genuine material experience and represents one of the frontiers for research in the las decade. The Sof Surfaces and Polisensoriality project in particular extends the development of multi- sensory fabrics for the world of childhood and is aimed at designing artifacts that through enveloping the body, require an increase in contact performance in terms of factors such as softness, ductility or elasticity in particular of soft surfaces and fabrics in general.
